Activities have resumed in the ongoing Sheriff Oborevwori U-17 Unity Football Cup Competition for the Delta Central Senatorial District, as organizers intensify preparations for the semi-final and final stages of the tournament. The grassroots football competition is powered by Arthur Fedinand Limited.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and former Super Eagles international striker, Edema Fuludu, it was confirmed that Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved Sunday, February 8, 2026, as the date for the grand finale of the tournament. The LOC has therefore directed all committee members and sub-committees to commence final preparations ahead of the decisive matches.
The semi-final fixtures have also been officially announced. The first semi-final encounter between Uvwie and Ethiope West will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Ogor Technical College Football Field, Otor-Ogor. The second semi-final match, featuring Ughelli North against Ethiope East, is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Ekpan Police Station Football Field. Both matches are slated to kick off at 3:00pm.
The losers of the two semi-final matches will contest the third-place playoff on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Ekpan Police Station Football Field. The final match, which will decide the champions of the competition, will be played later the same day at the same venue, with kick-off set for 2:00pm.
According to the LOC, the final is expected to attract high-profile dignitaries, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other top government officials. The final match will officially bring to a close the tournament, which commenced in August last year and has continued to promote unity, youth development, and grassroots football across Delta Central.
