2nd Delta PFAN Tournament Kicks Off April 4, Secures Charliton Hotels Partnership

The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, during a press briefing held at Charlington Hotels & Apartments, where organisers formalised a partnership agreement with the hotel’s management. Speaking at the event, former Super Eagles player and current FIFA Coaches Educator, Edema Fuludu—who also serves as the General Secretary of PFAN National—described this year’s edition as an expanded version of the tournament. He revealed that the competition will feature six teams, an improvement from the maiden edition which had only three teams. CAF’s Appeals Board ruled that Senegal forfeited the final after their players temporarily walked off the pitch during the match in Rabat in protest of a controversial decision. The incident, which occurred during the game, was judged to be a breach of tournament regulations, leading to the match being awarded to Morocco. The family of the veteran tactician confirmed his passing in a statement released on Monday, describing him as a respected football figure, community leader and devoted family man. The statement expressed gratitude to God for what they called a fulfilled and impactful life. Onigbinde, a high chief of Modakeke in Osun State, was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of indigenous football coaching in Nigeria. He made history as one of the first Nigerian coaches to lead the national team and played a significant role in the development of football in the country. During his coaching career, he led the Nigerian national team to the final of the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations , where the then Green Eagles finished as runners-up. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when an intended pass from GAFA midfielder Tosin caused confusion in the Golden Friends defence. A defender’s attempted clearance only succeeded in diverting the ball into his own net, handing GAFA an early lead. GAFA continued to press forward and doubled their advantage in the 39th minute. Striker Godswill Menetie reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box and calmly slotted home to make it 2–0 before halftime. The second half resumed in similar fashion, with Godswill picking up right where he left off.
