Oborevwori Reaffirms Delta State Governor's Commitment to Quality as Warri Stadium Project Progresses

Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Onos Oborevwori has reiterated the Delta State Government’s resolve to deliver a world-class sporting facility with the ongoing reconstruction of the Warri City Stadium.
Speaking during an inspection tour on Monday, he emphasized that the state is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that only quality work is delivered.
Oborevwori noted that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborewvori is building durable infrastructure that will stand the test of time and elevate Delta State’s sporting profile both nationally and internationally.
He commended members of the host communities for their cooperation so far, stating that their support has contributed significantly to the smooth progress of the project.
According to him, when completed, the stadium will host major sporting events and other activities that will in turn boost economic activities in the area, creating opportunities for businesses and residents.
FIFA-licensed football agent , who joined the inspection tour, described the project as a remarkable development capable of repositioning Nigeria on the global football map. He praised the quality of the natural grass pitch, noting its international-standard drainage system and suitability for top-level matches.
Uyi also commended the stadium’s overall infrastructure, including the dressing rooms, media facilities, and advanced security architecture, which he said meets global best practices and ensures safety for players, officials, and fans.
Project manager Engr. Fdmi James, disclosed that construction began about 11 and expressed optimism that the project will be delivered soon
He added that strict adherence to global standards and the provision of adequate funding by the state government, alongside cooperation from host communities, would position the Warri City Stadium among the best-rated FIFA-compliant facilities in Nigeria.
