Chelle Names Full Super Eagles Squads for Unity Cup, Poland & Portugal Friendlies

Head Coach Eric Chelle has unveiled comprehensive Super Eagles squads ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup mini-tournament and upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, as Nigeria steps up preparations for major continental assignments.


For the Unity Cup, scheduled to take place at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley from May 26 to May 30, Chelle has selected a 27-man squad blending experience, emerging talents, and standout home-based players.


Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (Omonia FC, Cyprus), Arthur Okonkwo (Wrexham FC, England), Michael Atata (Ikorodu City)


Defenders: Bruno Onyemaechi (Olympiakos, Greece), Emmanuel Fernandez (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Chibuike Nwaiwu (Trabzonspor AS, Turkey), Igoh Ogbu (Slavia Prague, Czech Republic), Obinna Igboke (Enugu Rangers), Elias Ochobi (Rivers United), Chibueze Oputa (Enugu Rangers)

Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the semi-final on May 26, with victory securing a place in the final against either Jamaica or India.


The squad also features a number of first-time invitees, including Arthur Okonkwo, Emmanuel Fernandez, Raphael Onyedika, Tochukwu Nnadi, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, and Rafiu Durosinmi, alongside several home-based players, underlining Chelle’s commitment to broadening the national team pool.


For the high-profile international friendlies in Europe, Chelle has named a 24-man squad headlined by some of Nigeria’s biggest stars.

The Super Eagles will take on Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3 before traveling to Portugal to face the hosts on June 10 at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria.


With a fine blend of established internationals and rising stars, Chelle’s selections highlight a clear strategy to build depth, competition, and tactical flexibility as Nigeria prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they will face Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau.
