Nigeria international midfielder Frank Onyeka has been tipped as one of the standout players to watch ahead of the 2026/2027 English Premier League season following his rise with Coventry City.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles star, who currently plays as a defensive midfielder, has grown into a key figure for Coventry City after sealing a permanent move from Brentford in the summer transfer window.

Onyeka, born in Benin City, has amassed over 40 caps for Nigeria, underlining his importance at international level and his experience on the global stage.

His influence was particularly evident during Coventry City’s promotion-winning campaign, where he played a vital role in midfield, helping the club secure a return to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.

Speaking after completing his move, Onyeka expressed determination to make an impact in England’s top flight, promising to bring “fight, experience and commitment” to the team as they battle to establish themselves among the elite.

Nicknamed “The Tank” for his physical presence and ball-winning ability, Onyeka is widely regarded for his energy, tactical discipline and ability to shield the defence—qualities expected to be crucial for Coventry in the highly competitive Premier League.

Having previously featured for FC Midtjylland in Denmark, where he won domestic titles, and gained Premier League experience with Brentford, Onyeka arrives at the new season with both pedigree and momentum.
