Osimhen Brace Rescues Galatasaray in Dramatic Süper Lig Opener
Victor Osimhen began the 2026/27 Turkish Süper Lig season in spectacular fashion, scoring twice to rescue defending champions Galatasaray from a shock defeat against newly promoted Çorum FK in a thrilling 2–2 draw at RAMS Park on Friday.
The encounter was the opening match of the new Süper Lig campaign, with Galatasaray beginning their title defence against Çorum FK, who were making their debut in Turkey’s top flight.
After a goalless first half, Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, putting Galatasaray ahead and immediately reminding supporters of his importance to the champions.
Çorum FK, however, produced a remarkable response. Kyziridis levelled the contest in the 59th minute before Ramírez completed the turnaround just two minutes later, putting the visitors 2–1 ahead.
With Galatasaray staring at a disappointing opening-day defeat, Osimhen once again took centre stage.
The Nigerian striker struck in the 90th minute to complete his brace and salvage a point for the hosts. His late equaliser ensured the champions avoided an embarrassing home defeat in the first game of their title defence.
The 2–2 draw means Galatasaray open their campaign with a single point, while Çorum FK can take enormous confidence from holding the reigning champions at RAMS Park in their historic first Süper Lig appearance.
